Stealth Construction called on us to provide and install a built-in millwork look using modular cabinetry that can be moved and reconfigured to accommodate future growth for the BodyRok fitness studio in San Mateo, CA. They also asked us to source and install acoustic paneling that would carry the high-end wood look throughout the lobby while absorbing sound in a highly dynamic fitness environment.
This leased space had many challenges such as uneven floors, cabinet alcoves that weren’t square, and the entire space is on a curved corner lot. Our team, along with our local custom manufacturer, measured the space and designed every piece for a seamless fit. We used highly durable laminate for everything except the horizontal surfaces on the reception desk, which were made with stone material. In addition to mitigating and softening sound, the floor to ceiling slat wall made the space inviting and modern.
Clients and visitors are welcomed by a stunning entrance featuring a standout slat wall showcasing the studio’s slogan and a sleek, curved reception desk. Repurposed alcoves now serve as stylish retail displays, offering a space to showcase and sell branded products. A recessed wall of lockers provides functional storage, with additional display shelving above for added visual appeal. Complementing the design, matching wood benches seamlessly integrate with the custom millwork throughout the studio, creating a comfortable and cohesive space for customers to relax before and after class.
