Starting out:

As with any project, a few guidelines and protocols need to be defined up front.  Comprehensively define the project, and what success looks like to you and what the goals of the project are.

• Define the chain of command

• Anticipate and identify obstacles that could derail the process; mitigate the unexpected

• Determine your finish date

• Develop contingency plans to be implemented in the event that your deadline is not met

• Define the scope of the project – Identify all tasks, and exactly who will be responsible for each

• Establish a budget

*Who do you need on your team?

• Real Estate Broker
• Architect
• Interior Designer/ Space Planner
• IT Consultant
• Ergonomist
• Contractor and Construction Management Company
• Furniture Dealer
• Mover and Move Coordinator.

Next week we will discuss listing out some of the many dozens of tasks to be defined.  This goes beyond just furniture and into the melding of your employees to the space they will be occupying.
